makingthelistless:

Future things! Actually finishing reviews for the two films I’ve given grades to! But here’s a list of a lot of things that I should have watched like yesterday. Here you go:

  • Chronicle
  • John Carter (which I have seen 25 minutes of and actually looks competent and Taylor Kitsch isn’t as horrid at acting as I was expecting)
  • Man on a Ledge
  • The Woman in Black
  • Contraband
  • The Devil Inside
  • Red Tails

Oh, and a lot of summer shit that I don’t have on me yet to watch because eww piracy.

Again, if you don’t follow my super movie blog, well…I don’t blame you yet. But this is stuff that will hopefully be reviewed on it in a future day!

This is so so so so so so much of a horrid strawman that it hurts. I have literally SEEN THIS SCENARIO PLAY OUT IN REAL LIFE WITH FEMINIST PEOPLE INVOLVED and they didn’t react in EITHER FASHION. Because human beings are actually complicated beings that when seeking social justice or what have you, they do understand that things aren’t that simple. Feminism is simple in goals, but it’s really not in practice. That’s the beauty of it. Same with social justice.

I don’t really know or care if it will be as successful as last year post-tragedy, but dammit, it’s fun as hell. Last year, Bill Bicknell made an adorable video worth checking out. So this year can be just as fun. Invite yourself and observe the right way on July 4th.

The Predictable

In reference to the finish of last night’s Over The Limit, I heard a sort of mixed reaction. Much of it is on pointing out the obvious, that said Big Show run-in was super predictable. I imagine this pointing out was probably something that was meant as a detraction. And don’t worry, I do get why that argument trickles out. In movies, when we see something coming from a mile away and it is treated like a major twist, it weakens our view of the work. It is as bad as a nonsense twist in fiction.

Yet I have begun to realize that WWE can use the predictable to their advantage. With the Big Show appearance being set up to obvious ends, there is a good chance that we will see story arcs with logical appearances. Mind you, the Show/Cena story to come is something I really do not want to see. Doubly mind you, I don’t need to see another Big Show heel turn like what seems to occur every two years around this time. However, WWE can remind itself that logical and predictable arcs are completely fine. It is fun as a viewer to see a wrestling twist coming from a mile away because we continually like that sort of thing.

WWE Creative should hopefully adopt this rule: If they can see it coming from a mile away and said twist isn’t stupid, stay the course.

This did in 2.5 minutes what I should’ve done with Fake Michael Cole all along.
